With LG having the first phone to come with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box in the LG V20, they also want to be one of the first OEMs to dish out Nougat on their non-Nexus (and Pixel) flagships. Optus is showing that their LG G5 will have the goods as soon as mid-November.
The company is showing that the software is currently in testing phases. There’s a chance that expectation could slip and we know from experience that date won’t apply to all carriers in all regions — some may even have to expect months of delay, if history is to be trusted — but it’s nice to see that LG is already far enough along to have the first carriers involved.
Unfortunately, we’re not sure if that speed will benefit any other devices, including those in LG’s own lineage. As for what to expect from the LG G5’s incoming improvements, this LG V20 software rundown should give you a pretty decent idea of what’s coming.
