26 Galaxy Note 7 claims were either false or couldn’t be confirmed
Aside from the initial report of Samsung investigating 35 cases of Galaxy Note 7 explosions, we haven’t since had a solid figure to know how many of these devices were actually blowing up. Well, we now know how many reports were simply fake or can’t be accounted for.
Samsung says 26 reports of the Galaxy Note 7 exploding were “false,” with their definition of the term being reports that couldn’t be verified with pictures, reports where the people making the claim couldn’t be contacted, or reports where they either found no fault with the Galaxy Note 7 or found the device to be a different phone altogether.
The reports come from 15 countries, including the US, UK, Canada, South Korea, Singapore, Philippines, Turkey, Vietnam, Croatia, Romania, Iraq, Lebanon, the UAE, and Czech Republic. The US had the most of these by far with 9, while the next closest was South Korea at 3. Talk about trying to fake your way into the American dream.
Despite the fakes, it’s pretty obvious that the problem is still pretty big, but thankfully Samsung is already far along in their process to make things right, including shipping out 50,000 new devices to American retail channels for folks to get their devices replaced ASAP.
