Top 5 Android Apps & Games of the Week (September 16, 2016)

0

Every week, hundreds of Android apps and games are submitted to the Play Store. If you’re not paying attention 24/7, it’s easy to miss some of the best stuff. Each week we will highlight five of the best new or overlooked apps and games. You’re sure to find some hidden gems in these recommendations. Go forth and download!

1. Snap Swipe Drawer

Snap Swipe Drawer adds a second pull-down drawer that can be used to display your favorite widgets. Instead of having widgets take up space on your home screen you can tuck them away in the drawer and access them anywhere. To open the widget drawer you can choose a part of the notification bar to pull down. The widgets work exactly how you would expect. Snap Swipe Drawer can also be used on your lock screen.

2. KinScreen

KinScreen is screen timeout on steroids. By default, Android allows you to choose how long the display stays on after inactivity, but it only measures inactivity by screen touches. KinScreen adds many more options. You can have the screen stay on when motion is detected  or by waving your hand over it. There are also options for when to turn the screen off, like when the proximity sensor is blocked. All of these little changes can make your battery go further.

3. Muviz

If you love listening to music, Muviz is a great app for visualizing the experience in your nav bar. Muviz displays an audio visualizer in your nav bar or at the bottom of your screen whenever you listen to music or watch a video. You can choose from over a dozen preset visualizer designs or create your own. The visualizer doesn’t interfere with any of your other apps. It’s just a really cool way to see your music in a new light. You don’t even need root to use Muviz.

4. Outfolded

Outfolded is a game all about unfolding boxes. The trick to the game is to unfold the boxes so they reach the goal. You have to unfold the boxes in the correct direction in order to end up in the right spot on your last fold. Some levels require more than one box, and the boxes come in different sizes. You don’t have to land perfectly on the goal at the end, but if you’re not careful you will run out of folds. You have unlimited use of the undo button so you can get it right.

5. Six!

The easiest way to describe Six! is to imagine playing Tetris in reverse. Instead of stacking random blocks to create a tower, you are removing random blocks from a tower. A hexagon is perched at the top of the tower. The goal is to remove the blocks underneath in a way that doesn’t tip the hexagon off the tower. Unlike Tetris, these blocks follow the laws of physics. The lower you get the higher your score.
