The Moto Z and Moto Z Force have been out and about already, but those with a tighter budget are likely still looking forward to information on the Moto Z Play which Motorola has yet to announce. The device is supposed to be a more affordable option which we imagine won’t have all of the same bells and whistles as the 2 base models.
In any case, today we get first word that the device will also be heading to Verizon — probably as an exclusive — as the Moto Z Play DROID. That association shouldn’t have any implications for the device’s features outside of the fact that it’ll have loads of bloatware onboard, but it’s interesting to know regardless.
The Moto Z Play is rumored to feature a 5.5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 625 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a 16MP camera and 5MP camera for the rear and front, respectively.
This version will also come with a 3.5mm headphone jack whereas the more premium models don’t. We take this to mean that Motorola won’t be including a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter in the box.
That’s understandable, though, since this is supposed to be the affordable option. The phone is said to be due for launch by the end of this year.
