Back in May, ASUS unveiled its latest lineup of its ZenFone smartphones with the ASUS ZenFone 3, ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe, and ASUS ZenFone 3 Ultra. The devices were met with much praise due to the huge displays, included fingerprint scanners, phenomenal specs, and unbelievable prices.

The ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe was announced as the middle of the pack in this lineup, but as of today, has turned into the leader of the smartphone industry. When originally announced, the device was expected to include the Snapdragon 820, which is what powers many of the current flagship devices such as the HTC 10 and Samsung Galaxy S7. At a press event in Taiwan, ASUS announced the company would be including Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon processor, the Snapdragon 821, within the ZenFone 3 Deluxe.

ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe Specs:

  • 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 Processor
  • 6GB RAM
  • 64GB/128GB/256GB storage expandable with MicroSD card support up to 128GB
  • 23MP rear-facing camera
  • 8MP front-facing camera
  • 3,000mAH battery
  • USB Type-C charging port with Quick Charge 3.0

Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 821 earlier this year, but it was a bit late for any of the traditional powerhouses like Samsung or HTC to include the processor in their devices. This makes ASUS the first manufacturer to include the Snapdragon 821 which has been promised to be 10% more efficient than the previous Snapdragon 820.

In addition to the inclusion of the industry’s newest mobile processor, ASUS also announced the ZenFone 3 Deluxe would include 256GB of storage built-in, making this device a tough one to pass up, especially at its price point of just $499 unlocked.
