Verizon officially announces 30% data bump, Safe Mode, data rollover, and a brand new MyVerizon app

0

Well, the rumors were true. Verizon today announced their new wireless experience which includes sweeping plan changes in areas of data and roaming. The biggest talking point for the company was a minimum 30% bump in data for all their plans. Here’s the full breakdown of where we are with the change:

  • Small: Now $35/month for 2 GB (was $30/month for 1GB)
  • Medium: Now $50/month for 4 GB (was $45/month for 3GB)
  • Large: Now $70/month for 8 GB (was $60/month for 6GB)
  • X-Large: Now $90/month for 16 GB (was $80/month for 12GB)
  • XX-Large: Now $110/month for 24 GB (was $100/month for 18GB)

And here it is in chart form in case you need something a bit more visual:

Alongside the data bumps, users can take advantage of a few new data features. Carryover Data lets you bank the data you didn’t use in the previous month for usage the next month. Safe Mode allows you to exceed your high-speed data cap without incurring overage charges, though you’ll be slowed to likely-unbearable speeds. If you need more high-speed data, you can pay $15 per 1GB, or switch your plan to one of the higher tier options at no extra charge.

As you can see, all of this comes included with XL and XXL plans, however those on lesser ones will be asked to pay $5 per feature. Not the most exciting fact in the world, but if you ever have a problem with overages then it could end up saving you money overall.

Verizon’s new experience isn’t just about the plans, though. The company detailed a brand new MyVerizon app which makes it quite easy to keep up with your account. Here’s all you’re getting with the update:

  • The Feed: All you need to know about your data, account and bill in one real-time feed, with personalized products and content just for you.
  • The Data Hub: Your data control center. Clearly see how much data is being used, who is using it and how to get more if you need it.
  • Shop: The fastest and easiest way to browse, buy and customize the latest devices, all without leaving the app.
  • On-Demand Support: In-app help that’s there before you need it with immediate answers without calling for help.
  • Simplified Bill: A clear and simple bill that explains what’s changed from month-to-month. Understand and pay your bill with just a few taps.

It doesn’t hurt that it looks damned good, too:
