Here’s a quick look at how Samsung’s new Smart Glow notification ring looks

It wasn’t long ago we heard about Samsung’s Smart Glow, a new notification ring that goes on the rear of a device and offers advanced functions. The ring can light up in different colors to notify you of incoming messages, of course, but it can also be used to ensure your face is perfectly centered in a selfie shot or simply give you a quick idea of where your battery life is.

SamMobile has obtained shots of the ring on the rear of the Samsung Galaxy J2 2016, a phone due for an Indian launch at some point later this week. The design looks fairly simple, if not a bit unrefined. Perhaps it just comes off odd in these renders — we’ll have to wait for a look at the real deal to see if it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb.

Looks aside, the feature is pretty cool, and if it proves to be a hit on Samsung’s affordable options we wouldn’t rule out the possibility of seeing it appear on next year’s flagships.
