Amid production issues, the Mi Band 2 won’t see wider availability until October

The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 has been met with some manufacturing issues even before it was officially announced. The original release was pushed back a month due to production issues and once announced, has yet to be available for Xiaomi’s own website. Instead the company was relying on its retail partners to sell the $22 fitness tracker, but soon found out that those retailers were raising the prices of the Mi Band 2 due to stocking constraints.

The latest report from GizmoChina states that the company has started ramping up production, increasing the availability of the device by two-fold. Additionally, the company is expecting for users everywhere to be able to purchase the Mi Band 2 in October, which is still a few months away. The company has been having so many issues with keeping up with production that Huami, the company who produces the band, has stated that production on the band itself has doubled, but may still not meet the expectations.

This obviously isn’t the release that Xiaomi was anticipating and may have wanted to wait a bit longer before releasing the fitness tracker considering the issues that were encountered early on.
