This week marked the 20th anniversary that the Nintendo 64 first became available in Japan. No matter your console affiliation, there’s no denying the profound impact the Nintendo 64 had on the world of gaming. Titles like GoldenEye 007, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Mario Kart 64, Super Smash Bros — 90’s kids are sure to have fond memories gaming on the console with friends or even playing solo.
But it was Super Mario 64, the consoles launch title, that officially marked the franchise’s move away from a 2D sidescrolling, to a fully 3D open world platformer. Our lives would never be the same. I can still remember skating down to my local Target to play the demo for a few hours after school. *sigh* The good ‘ol days…
But it’s artist Angelo Furfaro who has perfectly captured the essence of gaming’s golden years his nostalgic collection dubbed 20 Years of 64. Featuring iconic moments in Super Mario 64, he’s selling prints on his Inprnt page, but thankfully was generous enough to supply us with a few high resolution PNGs perfect for our Android Wallpaper series.
Whether you have a Samsung Galaxy S7, HTC 10, or OnePlus 3 — these wallpapers will look pixel perfect. You can download the full resolution images individually by right clicking on your desktop and selecting “open link in new tab”, or by long pressing on your Android device’s web browser and selecting “open in new tab.”
If that’s too much trouble, you can find the entire zip file with all 6 wallpapers (and 2 bonus ones) here. Enjoy.
