Uber has always used pricing estimates to help you figure out your fair. While these estimates are often accurate, they had the tendency to fluctuate due to unexpected traffic or surge pricing (which goes into effect when demand for Uber rides is high).
Well, that’s no longer the case. Uber will now show you your exact fare before you even confirm you need a ride. You’ll be required to enter your destination before ordering your ride, of course, but who doesn’t do that when taking an Uber?
That doesn’t mean surge pricing still won’t take effect. If you book a ride during a surge pricing moment Uber will show you the heightened price with a small line of text beneath notifying you that the fare is affected by the demand. Still, it’s nice to know you won’t be hit with a travel bill much larger than you anticipated.
