The Moto Z and Moto Z Force have a one-handed mode

0

The Motorola Moto Z and Motorola Moto Z Force were announced last week. We’ve learned a lot about these phones since then, most notably how much the Moto Mods will cost, but we haven’t dived into the software. There are always a few software features to discover when we get the device in our hands. One such feature is a new one-handed mode.

In the video above by Erica Griffin, you can see the one-handed mode at 9:53. Motorola calls it “Swipe to shrink screen.” To shrink the screen you simply drag your finger up from underneath the display. Unlike other one-handed modes that move to the left or right side, Motorola’s is centered on the display. Tapping the black area will exit.

The Moto Z has a 5.5-inch display, which is one of the biggest we’ve seen for flagships in 2016. A lot of people have trouble using devices of that size. The one-handed mode can come in handy if one of your hands is tied up with something else and you want to bang out a quick message. Do you use one-handed mode on your phone?
