Download This: “Poncho” wakes you up with music customized to the weather

0

Poncho is the name of a cute cat in a yellow raincoat. It also happens to be the name of an app that can wake you up with music that matches the weather. Poncho started as a simple daily weather service with a lot of personality. Now, it’s available as an app with even more functionality, but the same cute cat.

The first thing you’ll see in Poncho is a unique weather forecast. Poncho doesn’t just tell you that it’s “partly cloudy.” You get a short blurb with funny quips about the weather and sometimes even GIFs. All the typical weather stuff, like hourly and daily forecasts, are also there. But Poncho is not just a weather app, it’s also an alarm clock.

In the Alarms tab, you can create an alarm for certain days of the week like you would expect. The magic happens when the alarm goes off. Instead of beeping or repetitive jingles, Poncho plays music based on the weather. One morning you might get bright and cheery music for a sunny day. The next morning it might be dark and gloomy for a rainy day. When the alarm goes off you’ll know the forecast without even looking.

Poncho can also deliver morning, afternoon, and weekend forecasts via notification. You can get information about how the weather will affect your hair, allergies, public transit, and parking. To use Poncho you’ll need to sign up for a free account. The app is also free, but it’s in beta right now.

Poncho is an adorable and incredibly handy app. If you’re sick of waking up to the same alarm every morning, this is a great way to shake things up with useful information. It’s also a really well-designed weather app in its own right. The weather alarm is the coolest feature. Poncho is free to download, but you won’t be able to search for it in the Play Store.
