Samsung Galaxy S7 Active black LEAK

Samsung Galaxy S7 Active reportedly launching with massive 4,000mAh battery

If you haven’t been keeping up with Samsung rumors, there have been a handful of leaks these past few weeks pointing toward the strong likelihood we’ll be seeing the release of a special ruggedized version of the Galaxy S7 dubbed the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active. You know, like Samsung’s done every year since the Galaxy S4. Typically Samsung packs this thing with an extra big battery, but some leaks suggested the phone would come with around the same battery capacity as the current gen S7 Edge model.

Today, new information about the phone is throwing all that out the window, with the Galaxy S7 Active reportedly launching with a massive 4,000mAh battery — a significant boost over the 3,500mAh battery in last year’s model. That should be more than enough for even the most outdoorsy of folks to track their fitness goals, GPS location, or stream full HD “how to survive a bear attack” videos on YouTube while away from the plug. Other rumored specs include a 5.1-inch Quad HD display, Snapdragon 820, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, and 12MP/5MP cameras.

Once again, AT&T is nabbing the exclusive and going by the date shown in the device’s press renders, it’s possible we could be looking at a June 10th launch. For Android enthusiasts who already have their heart set on the phone, just remember that the Galaxy Active line doesn’t always receive the same timely update treatment as some of Samsung’s more regular flagships, usually receiving major software updates long after its regular counterparts have.

With Android N just around the corner — and all the improvements to Android therein — it’s just a little something to consider before pulling the trigger on this particular model. Of course, ridiculously good battery life might be a little higher on your priority list than Android updates. We get it.
