It wasn’t long ago we heard LG trademarked LG G5 SE. We pondered whether they were looking to match wits with Apple and create a compact high-end device, or whether this was a special edition version of the handset LG hadn’t yet revealed.
Fast forward to today, and new cases for the device turned up at MobileFun. This spawned many questions as the cases seemingly fit both the LG G5 and LG G5 SE. Is this indeed a Special Edition model with some sort of unique feature or design? Is this an improved version of the LG G5? Why are skies blue?
While we don’t have great answers just yet, our friends at Droid-Life seemed to have the LG G5 SE quite some time ago. The outlet’s chief Kellen Barranger notes the device was simply a pre-production Korean model of the same phone that’s on sale right now, and he suggests there’s nothing noticeably different about it compared to the retail LG G5 except those “SE” letters etched into its backside.
We don’t typically see LG use different branding for the phones they offer in their home country unless that phone is different in some way, so it’s all really strange. We’re waiting to hear back from LG regarding the LG G5 SE and whether there’s anything we should know about this elusive model, so sit tight if you’re curious.
