The HTC One X9 brings back BoomSound in an affordable package [Hands-on]

HTC brought the HTC One X9 at Mobile World Congress this week. Original rumors for the device suggested it wouldn’t best the HTC One A9 (in fact, we’d heard it’d come in a tier lower) but when it was officially announced late last year that wasn’t the case at all.

Sure, it’s not flagship worthy, but this spec sheet doesn’t sound like something you’d instantly pass on.

Beyond sheer power is the addition of BoomSound speakers, a trait which we missed in the HTC One A9 and hoped would someday return. The design of the speakers isn’t as profound as we’re used to like on HTC’s flagships, but it should still deliver nice, rich sound (and some may actually prefer the toned-down design).

HTC also stressed their refined metal design for this thing. It isn’t an overly spectacular or striking design, but it should feel like a pretty solid device in the hands and one you wouldn’t be ashamed to use in public.

When you consider the supposed price tag the HTC One X9 will come in at (the equivalent of about $370) we’d say this could be one of the best HTC phones you can buy once it’s available. We’ll share more availability details when HTC offers them.
