We’ve heard in previous rumors that the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be regaining some of that water resistance they lost in the prior models, but how much? Well, an Indian import database entry may have shed some light, with the listing showing parts for water-resistant SIM card trays and microphones being moved.
And that’s where the information train ends. The fact is we don’t know how much of the phone will actually be water resistant. There could be more water-resistant parts coming in on a separate order, or this could be the only stuff that’s getting treatment. After all, the microphone and SIM are the 2 most important components to have in the event of an emergency (though we’d also be quick to throw the microUSB port into that equation, as well).
It’s not likely Samsung is going to advertise these phones as water-resistant in the way that Sony would (and even they have cut back on depictions of diving with smartphones in their ads), but it could offer up just enough durability to make sure you aren’t totally soaked on a rainy day. Is water resistance important to you for this year’s round of Galaxy S devices?
