What would you guess was the most used Android app in Q4 2015? Facebook? Whatsapp? Chrome? You would be wrong. The answer might surprise you, but it will leave your phone feeling clean.
According to Drawbridge, the most used Android apps in Q4 of 2015 was Clean Master. This was discovered by analyzing over one trillion in-app ad requests in October, November, and December. Clean Master dominated each month, and was also the app with the most unique users in the time span. CM Security came in 2nd place in all categories. Clean Master was likely helped by a few deals with manufacturers that preload the app on devices.
What does this tell us about Android users? People are still really worried about “optimizing” their Android devices, cleaning out junk, and killing apps. We’ve written numerous articles about why app killers are not only unnecessary, but they do more harm than good. People are also still concerned about virus’ and malware, despite the fact that it’s highly unlikely you’ll ever get either one on your phone.
Security apps will always be popular among the tech illiterate crowd. What was your most used app last quarter? Do you have any of these apps installed on your device?
