Xiaomi has officially announced the Redmi Note 3 after weeks of teasing and speculation. The device looks to impress out of the starting gate, with a MediaTek Helios X10 chipset doing the heavy lifting under the hood. It also sports good looks with a sheet of metal wrapping around a 5.5-inch full HD display.
Xiaomi’s focus was really on profile this time, ensuring the device was as thin as anything on the market at a max width of 8.65mm. It’s also a light 164g despite its bigger battery, which comes in at around 4,000mAh. Here’s a full look at device specs:
- Helio X10 MediaTek Flagship Processor
- 4000 mAh large battery
- Metal body, 8.65mm, 164g, thin and light
- Fingerprint sensor, unlocks in 0.3s
- 13MP PDAF Autofocus
- 2GB LPDDR3 dual-channel + 16GB of Storage, or 3GB + 32GB
- 1080P, 5.5” full HD display
- 4G Dual SIM, both SIM slots support 4G
- 802.11ac Wi-Fi
- MIUI 7 operating system
The device will be available Silver, Gold and Dark Grey starting at around $140 for the 2GB RAM model and $172 for the 3GB variant. Those are some very fair price tags for the specs you’re getting, so even if you are feeling a bit uneasy about the Helio X10 (which you shouldn’t as MediaTek is said to have created a very nice kit here) it’s worth considering a purchase.
