Blackberry must be in the late stages of testing for their first Android handset as we’re seeing it pop up more and more in the wild. This time, the portrait slider was spotted at the Toronto Film Festival, and sure enough it seems to be running Android.
The photo doesn’t show it well, but the lucky soul holding the device is using what appears to be the standard messaging app that ships with stock Android Lollipop, and there’s a Blackberry logo sitting in the bezel near the top.
Unfortunately the shot doesn’t reveal much more than what the photo ninja who spotted it was able to capture, though we do see one slightly recessed button sitting beneath the upper volume key, which confirms that there will possibly be a programmable key for quick launching certain apps or actions.
According to the source, there were “lots” of these things spotted at the Film Festival, which doesn’t sound odd at all considering Blackberry is stationed in Canada and many of the employees testing the device were sure to attend the country’s premier film festival. We’re hoping official word from the Waterloo company won’t be far off, with the device said to be arriving this November.
