Renders and case outlines can only go so far in terms of getting us excited: it’s the real deal that changes things. Today’s leak brings us our first possible look at LG’s 2015 Nexus 5.

The leak comes from a rather unproven Google+ user, so there’s no way to judge the validity. The photo depicts a real handset, and one which looks strikingly similar to the render OnLeaks put together based on his knowledge of what it looks like.

The photo itself doesn’t give us much new that we didn’t already know. There’s a camera, a flash, a laser-assisted focus beam and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. There are also some really telling numbers on the back, so whoever leaked this thing better hope their superiors can’t make them out.

Unfortunately we still don’t get an accurate picture of what the front will look like. Rumors suggest there will be front-facing speakers, and since there are none on the rear in this particular leak we’d say that has a strong chance of turning out true. Whether we get dual stereo goodness or a lone speaker remains to be seen.

Elaborate Photoshop job? Tough to say, but we imagine it’d take the most skillful of designers to fake the shadows cast by the fingers, as well as making the phone appear to fit in a hand in realistic fashion. Real or not, the Nexus 5 2015 will more than likely end up looking just like this. What do you think?

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.
