Samsung confirms and teases circular Gear S2 smart watch ahead of IFA unveiling

We thought we might hear something about Samsung’s upcoming round smart watch at today’s Unpacked event. While we didn’t quite get a full-fledged announcement, the company at least confirmed that the watch was in the works.

They more than confirmed it, actually — they’ve given us an early look at what you can expect. It’s a watch. It’s round. It looks good. And it runs Tizen. That means you can probably expect to pass on it if you don’t or won’t own a Samsung phone by the time it launches.

But if you’re in the market for one of Samsung’s wrist-dwellers, this thing is looking good. The teaser video the company put on didn’t directly confirm the existence of a rotary dial, but it sure did seem like that bezel was spinning ever-so-slightly.

It’s all coming at IFA Berlin next month, where the company would ordinarily announce the next device in the Note line (but as you know We thought we might hear something about Samsung’s upcoming round smart watch at today’s Unpacked event.
