Samsung’s need to get a new SDK out to developers helped spill the beans early on about the type of smart watch, which is being called the Samsung Gear A, they were working on for 2015. It’s going to be circular, and it’s probably going to be pretty good. We also now know they’re planning to put a rotating dial on the thing.
That much was confirmed at a Tizen developer conference out in India this week. The company didn’t go into detail about what this rotating dial would be used for, but we imagine UI navigation and setting the time, date and other values will be primary focuses for implementation.
So what’s the rest of the device going to be like? Earlier rumors have told of an Exynos 3472 dual-core processor with 768MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage, 250mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi N, gyroscope, GPS, barometer and heart rate sensors. Its display will sport 360 x 360 resolution, fitting for a display that’ll be round. We could find out more as soon as August 13th when Samsung takes to New York to unveil their latest wares, and we’ll be front and center to see for ourselves.
