After Motorola revealed a bunch of awesome products yesterday – among them the Motorola Moto G 2015 – we shared with you a list of everything you needed to know. Now that the dust has settled and we’ve safely escorted the Moto G back to our domicile, we felt it appropriate to have a little chat about this very capable device.
Let’s candidly discuss some of the top takeaways:
The Moto G 2015 is available for purchase right now
It’s now customizeable on Moto Maker. Choose the face color (White or Black), rear color (10 choices), accent color (10 choices), and add optional engravings and extra shells
It’s only $179
For $40 extra, you’ll get 8GB extra storage and 1GB extra RAM
The microSD slot lists a capacity of 32GB but we think it’ll support 128GB if pressed
The 5-inch screen and curved back give it a great feel
The 720p resolution will be fine for most, but flagship lovers will notice the downgrade
The 720p resolution will also be the reason your battery lasts much, much longer
13MP rear, 5MP front camera are noticeably awesome values (Last year: 8MP/2MP)
IPX7 Water Resistance and Gorilla Glass 3 mean it’s built to last (all phones should have this)
I’ve been carrying around the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge since April 10th and I have to say that comparably the Moto G feels a lot more chunky and clunky, but it’ll also save you about $600. It’s all an interweaving web of pros, cons, and difficult decisions.
