After launching their Kickstarter back in February, the Pebble Time is now officially available to all through various retail channels like Best Buy and (Target August 17th). We saw first shipments head out directly to backers more than a few weeks ago, but this marks the first time you can actually walk into a store and out with a shiny new Pebble Time. Well, as long as you’re willing to drop $200 for one over the many Android Wear watches that typically retail for less.
Just keep in mind you might have trouble recognizing the Time if you decide to pick one up. As highlighted by one Twitter user, it seems Best Buy is taking security very seriously on these watches. Although Pebble Time is easily considered a Kickstarter success, that momentum will need to be carried to retail where the watch is going up against some pretty stiff competition. Covering your product with a security device like this likely wont help matters much.
Those of you still waiting to get your hands on the Pebble Time Steel — the more premium metal version of the smartwatch — will still have to wait a little longer. Pebble revealed last week that all devices will be shipped by the end of August, so expect to see the watch in stores a few weeks after that.
