Google Play Music gets fix for songs disappearing from your microSD card

Google Play Music 5.6 DSC06067

Google Play Music suffered a nasty bug a couple of weeks back. Those affected by the bug saw the songs they saved to their microSD card for offline listening simply vanish. No, it wasn’t because the company didn’t want you to — it was a bug.

And now it’s fixed. You should be in the clear as long as you have the latest version from Google Play. To be clear, this issue only affected All Access tracks which were saved for offline viewing. Tracks uploaded by the user were unaffected.

Here’s the full changelog Google’s serving up with this update:

  • Listen to free, ad-supported radio (US only)
  • Added a fix to prevent music downloaded to SD cards being removed
  • Fixed a bug where some songs and albums from My Library were not showing up on device

Sound good? Download is here, so get to it and keep your fingers crossed that it won’t happen again.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.
