Moto X Developer Edition

I think it’s safe to say that Android has advanced to the point where it’s entirely possible to be content with some of the older hardware. Devices like the original Moto X (2013) with its pocketable size and great battery life, it’s aged rather well. If you jump onto eBay, you can find the 1st gen Verizon Wireless Motorola Moto X Developer Edition for only $200.

Shipping is free and this is not a refurb — it’s brand new. Since all Verizon handsets come out the box unlocked, you can also use this on your favorite GSM carrier although full LTE compatibility may vary. Better hurry. With limited stock, we don’t imagine this deal will last for very much longer.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. Why?

  2. And be trapped with KitKat forever.

    1. Motorola announced that this phone will receive lollipop update. (No date set yet)

      1. Yet, Lollipop was launched almost 4 months ago.

        1. Considering how long it takes for adaptation for most devices this is just par for the course. The KK experience is still rather nice.

        2. Only a handful of devices have been updated to lollipop …the 2013 moto x will probably still receive lollipop before even newer devices.

    2. Based on some of the horror stories I’ve heard about lollipop, KK doesn’t sound all that bad. Plus, lock screen notifications… DND mode… we have this stuff already :)

    3. Not the worst thing in the world considering the deal.

  3. No.

  4. According to willmyphonework.net 2G/3G only on T-Mobile & AT&T.
A good deal for those on VZW though.

    1. It has LTE on Band 4, so LTE in urban areas on T-Mobile.

EDIT: It seems willmyphonework.net has some design issues, as it seems to use (for some phones) frequency instead of band for LTE… I predict a mess with Band 12/17/13.

  5. I dont need this…but for some reason i want it…

    1. It took every fiber of my being not to get one for fun. I’ve already got an HTC m7att and Sony Z3. I don’t need moar.

  6. This sounds tempting but I think I will wait for the ASUS Zenfone 2

  7. Got my brand new dev edition moto x for $170 4 months ago, win for me

    1. Are you happy with it?

      1. Yeah, I love it

  8. That’s a really enticing offer if you’re a Verizon customer. As for myself, what I’d like is for Sprint to offer the Moto X 2014. But apparently, Sprint doesn’t need all the help they can get so it was a great move to turn it down and piss people off. ‘kay, I’m done (for now).
