HTC is hosting an insane deal today. The best bit is already over unfortunately — they were offering 50% off of a 16GB Nexus 9, bringing the tablet’s cost down to $200 from its original $400. Fortunately for those who weren’t able to get in on the fun, HTC is offering $50 off to anyone who purchases a Nexus 9 (16GB or 32GB) by midnight eastern time tonight.
Fret not, because HTC says the fun isn’t over. The company Tweeted that we should all stay tuned for more of the same in the weeks to come, as they’ll be posting “#HTCHotDeals” every Tuesday of the holiday season. Let us know if you were one of the lucky few able to get in on the 50% off deal. If not, let us know if you’ll be taking advantage of the $50 off before the day expires.

Ha.. It was over before it started. Marketing gimmick i reckon.
EXACTLY!
HTC probably never had any available @ 50% off,or,such a low number that it was by definition, more of a lottery/contest than a sale.
Woulda picked one up @ 50% off,perhaps two,but,absolutely zero interest @ the current price,or a mere $50 off.
I bought one at 12:05 EST for 50% off. I heard a lot of people had trouble with the website though so I guess I was lucky!
Yeah. Shortly after that time it was completely non-functional.
you’re just mad that you didn’t get one. stop being so damn cheap…
As if you know me,DB………..
Well yeah. There is no way they could have made any money at that price. So it’s all marketing. But even if they had 100 such units what are the chances that you will hear someone getting one. It’s a big world with billions of people.
Very true on all accounts.
However, I think all that is accomplished w/such promotions/marketing is nothing but disappointment & bitterness from the consumer.
These stunts do more buzz-killing than generating real interest from potential buyers.
If there is one thing these companies can learn from Apple, it should be how to properly launch a product, and run a promotion.
Apple’s iPhone launch event was a form of promotion that failed. A video streaming capacity fail, that is.
It appears to have been a scam. I didn’t see anyone who actually made it to the site for 50% off.
I did! Although I’m the only one I’ve seen so far that has :/
$50 off is hardly an “insane” deal.
The site says the deal is sold out now. Did anyone get the $50 off or was it like the first deal?
Where are the details about $50 off offer? There is nothing on the linked site at all ,just sold out, not until midnight.
I believe that’s the time range, so the deal will go on from noon until midnight unless it sells out. This deal sold out a long time ago.
Someone’s taking his lunch at 11:55 for the rest of the year…
