Motorola DROID Turbo AndroidSpin leak

The Motorola DROID Turbo has probably leaked more times than Motorola or Verizon may have liked. Even though we still have a little more than 5 days until Verizon’s DroidDoes site fully reveals the beastly Android device, the folks at AndroidSpin are giving us an early look at the phone in the flesh.

Despite being an eyesore, it’s not too different from the variety of leaks we’ve already seen, but does once again confirm a few of the phone’s insane specs like a 2560×1440 resolution display, and 3GB of RAM. October 28th all will be revealed, but we have a feeling this isn’t the last we’ve seen of the DROID Turbo.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. I wants this

  2. Not so much of an eyesore, but, wassup w/that bump/junk at the bottom of the phone (rear view)?

    1. Ha. You’re right. It literally has a bulge. O_o

      1. I was thinking more of a coin purse,w/the USB port & everythang………

Whatever it is,apparently the DROID TURBO is just as excited to see us as we are of it. :-D

    2. Can we be done with the bump/chin BS? It’s been there for the past 3 models (not including the Turbo), and everyone acts like it’s a new thing or they just saw it. Give it up already.

      1. 1st time I noticed it,excuse the F*** OUT OF ME.

        1. Is this your first time reading about the Turbo, because that’s one of the things people always comment on in every article on it. Along with no SD card no sale, uugghh capacitive keys, they’re still using Kevlar, and and not a Verizon exclusive!

I was wrong about the previous RAZR models having the chin. But the Droid models with the slide out keyboard had it (except for the Droid 4), the Bionic, RAZR M, X & X2, and last years Droids all had it as well. It’s not a new thing.

      2. No doubt, the Kevlar/carbon fiber is the best look out there… Give it up.

A least its not a bendy phone made out of classless aluminum.

  3. Fuggly.

    1. That’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it…even if it is wrong

      1. He is wrong is your opinion as well. It’s either your like it or don’t like it, either you buy it or don’t it, either case no one cares. Your money your phone. Right?

        1. The chair does not recognize this comment at this time.

  4. The black phone is nice, but the red is absolutely gorgeous

  5. I really don’t get what people say is so ugly about this phone. I know some prefer not to have capacitive buttons but done prefer them.

    1. Someone somewhere said it and then all the little sheep had to follow along.

      1. I think you just said it all.

    2. The metal around the front looks tacky. It should have kept the look of the Droid Maxx

  6. This should have been the Nexus 6.

    1. It basically has identical specs.

      1. I wish the N6 had the same battery powering that huge screen.

    2. No, it should be the Droid Turbo.
The Nexus 6 is exactly what it should be as well.

      1. No.

    3. Google was testing this phone as late as mid-August to be the Nexus 6. Instead they decided to release the 5.9″ monstrosity. I hope Motorola releases this in Pure Edition, like the Moto X.

  7. its a damn shame that they didn’t put in these specs into their x brand

  8. Something doesn’t add up…
I actually played with this phone in August. The phone I played with was indeed this phone, at the time there was no model name, just XT1254. The weird thing is, the back of the phone was a textured, fabric-like kevlar. Like the one in this photo : http://cdn.slashgear.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/droid-turbo-photo-2.png
and I LOVED IT, it felt really nice and looked great. I hope they didn’t make a hardware change in the last 2 months and decide instead to go with that ugly smooth Kevlar finish….

    1. This one could be an early prototype? Cheaper options? That textured back is REALLY nice. I could totally live with that…

      1. Possibly… because I also remember that it had listed 26 GB ROM which I thought was odd.
It’s sad because the textured back felt amazing and premium. I want this phone for its specs but if the back is as ugly as it looks in the new picture I might pass and settle for the leather Moto X.

      2. this is the red model with smoother back. the black model has the crisp texture. for some reason the leaked photos have all color removed.

    2. did you happen to notice the speaker placement? it doesnt seem to be the back which is a relief. the 3800mAH battery is really mouth watering :p

    3. There’s a picture floating around that shows three different models. A black and a red with kevlar and a black with a textured back. IT looks as if there’ll be(at least) three versions available.

    4. so you are saying they “smoothed” the texture on the back? The blurry photo in the article actually looks black and white. I bet it’s the RED model, with a black and white filter on. The RED model has smoother texture.

  9. i hope that turbo charger is compatible for this device as well! a huge battery with ultra fast charge would be a battery focused consumer’s dream!!

    1. Have you not read any other articles on this phone? Comes with a turbo charger.

      1. yeah, i havent. been trying keep my hype meter as low as possible lol

        1. Yeah… I wish I had that power! This thing seems to be a beast! I hope it will get updates in a timely manner, but unsure if vzw would even speak on that topic

  10. that chin tho

  11. Eh. I’d hold out until the Droid Twin Turbo Intercooled version comes out. #CarNerd

  12. I don’t think it’s an eyesore at all. It’s a nice looking phone in my opinion.

  13. YIKES!!!!!!!!!! Looks like the Droid Bionic!!!!

    1. I think it’s a little reminiscent of the Nexus One.

  14. I like the look, but why do all of the Motos with the ‘kevlar look’ have worn off textures on the corners? Went to the Verizon store a few months ago and thought they had been worn from handling.

  15. It is bland to me. Liked the MotoX look more. The screen and ram spec is phenomenal but sadly so is the price.

  16. Replace the capacitive touch front buttons with virtual buttons, make a SIM-Free version and you have the best (non-phablet) Android flagship in the market.

    1. We’re hoping Motorola will also do a “Pure Edition” sold straight from Motorola, like they have done with the 2014 Moto X. Unlockable bootloader, no carrier branding, no bloatware, multi-LTE bands, including European bands (with upcoming software update). Hope they do that for the Moto X Play!

      1. Yes that is exactly what I meant by SIM-Free :)

  17. Any images or descriptions of what the “droid eye” will look like?

    1. Ha, same thing I was wondering… guess we’ll know in a few days.

  18. Specs so good… looks so bad.

  19. Icons on the capacitive buttons will be outdated in 1 week…Don’t like the kevlar look, but everything else looks great.
