The Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play edition is receiving a small update to Android 4.3. The handset saw the arrival of the latest version of Android last month and users were greeted with a second build this week. Pegged with build number JWR66Y, the update features a Google security patch but little more.

Some users reported seeing the update as early as this past Tuesday, while everyone should be seeing it within a few days. The update is a direct bump up from the previous build of Android 4.3, JWRR66V. Let us know in the comments if you’ve installed the update, and head on over to the Android Forums source link to see what’s the dizz with the latest build. Next up? KitKat.

    1. a ROM is not an update.

      1. lmao I’m saying they updated to the new version with an update to the ROM. I know what a ROM is.

      2. technically, this is correct.
however, i pulled the OTA from my device and then patched the files in my ROM, VirginROM, using the OTA. and i had it live yesterday…

    2. I finally got myself a LG nexus 4, the phone is amazing. updated to 4.3 and runs so smooth , i love it.

    3. my ROM is everywhere now :D

      1. Its a great ROM too, I haven’t tried anything else and I don’t need to. Thank you for your hard work!!

  4. But my Verizon gnex still doesn’t have it…. Thanks Verizon

    1. mine does. but yeah, f-you verizon

      1. Have the custom 4.3 ROMs for the Verizon GNex overcome the issues with 3G/4G switchover yet? Last time I looked they all had issues with it, so I’ve stuck with 4.2.2 for now, but I’d sure like to have 4.3.

        1. no i dont think so. i don’t really have a problem though. sometimes i do notice it takes a few seconds longer to switch from 3g to 4g, but it certainly wouldn’t stop me from updating. using shiny btw

  5. Received Tuesday. Only one problem – it deleted my call forwarding instructions (wiped out Google Voice numbers). Otherwise, thanks, Samsung.

  6. Bring on the KitKat!

  7. It’s clear that Google Play Edition phones are proving themselves.
