It’s been a bit hard to find the Google Chromecast these days, but it seems like stock is finally beginning to normalize. Best Buy has updated their website listing to reflect that more units are in-stock, and that they’d be shipping from warehouses within just one business day. It’s an irresistible option, especially considering Google’s listing for the media streaming dongle in Google Play mentions it won’t be shipping for another week and a half.
The Best Buy listing is for online shipping only, meaning no pick-up in store options can be had. You might also want to note that some folks are reporting Best Buy is denying new customers the free Netflix offer despite still having a banner for the offer at the top of their site. It’s worth a shot anyway, though, and if push comes to shove you can always call Best Buy out for false advertising.
But if all you’re looking for is the device, then Best Buy is the place to be right now. You’d better hurry, though, because these things tend not to last long after word gets out.

So I wonder… how does BestBuy replenish their stock but yet the Google Play store still stats: Ships by September 13, 2013
That’s kind of inconvenient if you ask me.
It would seem to be because Best Buy is a much more popular retail destination. It’s more important for Google to take care of them than it is to keep the Play Store stocked.
Really? I would much rather purchase something like this using the Play Store but using my phone not the web… so you have a point. If I could see Devices in the Play Store app on my phone this would be my prefered way to purchase smaller pieces of hardware such as Chromecast.
Lol, think of all accidental purchases people, with kids, would have. I have a password for my play store, but I’m sure not every parent out there has the foresight to do that.
I shouldn’t be punished for bad parenting from others.
Damn! You bring up a huge point for me Steve. Wtf? Why can’t we order Google Play Store hardware from the mobile app? I have actually not purchased three times now because of it. The only time I actually went to the desktop site and ordered was the first time. I ordered my Original Nexus One. I still say that was the most advanced a phone has ever been for its time.
I sure miss that phone. Of course not when it became outdated, but I digress.
Google fix this problem and you will get more sales.
Also, I am jumping on Best Buy mobile app now. And no, before you ask it, I can’t do anything without my phone.
mine shipped last week
i ordered one from the play store last week ( said “ships by sept 13th”) but shipped 3 days after i ordered it.
I received mine in the mail from Google play two days ago
Where is the love for Canada? Been waiting for this to launch here for a while now. -_-
and its gone…
I just got one.
Muchas gracias! :)
Hell ya! After applying my $15 Reward Zone certificate, I got this bad boy for $21.66 after taxes!
I just ordered mine. Thanks!
I’m guessing this is a YMMV situation, as they’ve been available on-line & in-store for at least a week, if not longer.
…and sold out.
Still showing In Stock for me.
Dang I guess I should have spoke up, my daughter picked one up in LA early last week so I stopped by my local Best Buy in Chicago and scooped a couple up myself last Thursday. They still had some over the weekend.
Picked mine up a few weeks ago when BB had then in stock for one-day only (again). After using CC for a week my only two impressions are:
-It needs some kind of unified UI screen or app. Bouncing around apps is a little difficult and annoying.
-Its laggy! I know its over wi-fi and all the controls are going to be a LITTLE laggy. But up to a 10-second delay when pressing the volume up/down on Netflix is a bit lame
Interesting, this has not been my experience. Quick reaction times for me.
Thats good to know. Both my TV, the CC and the cell phone are about 100 feet away from the router. My house is quite large, I always feel like repeaters would be necessary. Its also on the 2.4ghz spectrum as it has a stronger signal and more range. May need to switch it over to 5ghz and see how it works.
Yes, mine is laggy as well. The sound lags in tandem with the picture, so at least that. I even placed my wi-fi router 4 feet from the Chromecast, still laggy. Wish they would have put an Ethernet jack on it.
Got mine last night at a BB store, not much in stock when I got it.
I finally received my order from amazon just a week ago and I got my Netflix code in an email just this weekend. I love it. The only thing I don’t like so far is that I noticed I couldn’t stream the live stream? of the Samsung event yesterday. Also Google blocking 3rd party apps.
Got my notice from Amazon that I should have it 9/10 instead of 10/27.
3rd time it’s gone back in stock within the past 2 weeks. I ordered one 2 weeks ago and got in on the Netflix deal (prior to it going out of stock again). Another a few days later w/ the Netflix deal (prior to it going out of stock again), as a gift for my best friend. Got the 3rd one yesterday. This is the reason I love Slickdeals!
I’d be more interested in this if it worked like a Miracast and could stream everything you see on the screen (even with the screen off). Just streaming Youtube and a few other apps doesn’t mean much when my TV and PS3 can do that built-in too.

I have an HTC Media Link that basically does screen mirroring…I’m still trying to figure out if I should bother with this when my Media Link seems like it can do more than the Chromecast?
Again…Best Buy has had this in stores for the past two weeks where I’m at. They have their own big end cap where I regularly see 4 dozen plus every time I go in.
