In case you’ve forgotten, LG has a pretty big event going down in New York City this morning. The company has all but confirmed the unveiling of the LG G2, the first flagship phone with the simplified “G” branding. We’re not sure how we feel about “Optimus” taking its leave, but it won’t matter — if the phone’s good enough, it doesn’t matter what it’s called. We’re on the ground in New York City and will be on-hand to bring you all the live coverage and hands-on that we can. Stay tuned, as things kick off at 11am Eastern! C’mon. “LG Optimus G” was a ridiculous name. We should feel very good about it leaving.
Side note: this phone could be a decent approximation of the next Nexus …
The name LG Optimus G was respected by anyone who knew its capabilities. When it was launched, it was the most powerful smartphone on the planet……….HANDS DOWN. I know because I owned one, and nothing anybody had at the time came close.
