Archos 80 Xenon

The last time we heard from Archos, they were launching their new line of Platinum tablets — the Archos 80 Platinum, Archos 97 Platinum, and Archos 116 Platinum. This time around, Archos is debuting an all new tablet, affordable priced and packing both 3G and WiFi capabilities. The Archos 80 Xenon is the company’s latest, priced at an affordable $200. Let’s take a look at the specs.

  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
  • 1.2GHz Snapdragon S4 quad-core CPU
  • 8-inch IPS 1024×768 resolution display
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 4GB internal storage
  • 2MP rear/.3(?)MP front facing cameras
  • Micro SD card slot
  • 3G/WiFi
  • 11.3mm thick, 15.5oz

All in all, not a bad low-end tablet for a such a reasonable price. The Archos 80 Xenon will be available for purchase this June, and we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as it hits Amazon. Anyone thinking this could be a great tablet for the kiddos?

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. ehh, good price, good CPU but lack of internal memory will kill it for people who need the space

    1. Pretty sure the that’s what the sd card slot is for.

      1. Since Android version 4.0 you can no longer install apps directly onto external SD memory.

  2. Might as well just get the N7.

    1. The Nexus 7 > every other $200 tablet.

  3. 4GB internal storage? This thing is a piece of junk. If you can’t come up with a useful device why bother

  4. Lolwut? I think they missed the memo. There is this thing called the nexus 7… yeah it came out a year ago and it’s still better.

  5. I believe they forgot to list the micro sd slot

    1. It has microSD.

  6. Seriously.. WTF Archos

What happened to the Platinum series tablets you promised back in March?????????

    1. Still waiting for the Platinum 97, supposed to be a great tablet now that they were using the hi res screen.

  7. will it support Google Play?

  8. Wonder if it would work on tmobile

  9. If only it was 1080p, it will get my money! lol

    1. It would probably barely churn 30fps if it was powering a 1080p screen.

  10. Still feel a 10 incher (e.g. TF101, TF300) a better tablet for doing tablet-y stuff. Reading PDF, Pulse news, browsing recipes, some Angry Birds. Going from 7 inch to 10 inch, or vice versa, you’ll see what I mean if you tried it.

  11. Also consider the brand new Icoo 7GS – 3G — with a 7″ HD Screen… available on line through T ablet S print- – this new 7 Inch Android tablet compares to the current $300 Nexus 7 3G edition, with most of the same features, but is priced about $200 and offers one of the latest Rockchip Quad Core processors, WiFi, an 1280X800 display, Bluetooth, Google Play store, and 3G HSPA+ with internet & phone call connection through any GSM network carrier, including AT&T and T-Mobile- worth reviewing
