Yesterday’s leaked Galaxy S4 render revealed as fake

30

We can all breathe a sigh of relief: the leaked Samsung Galaxy S4 render from yesterday has been exposed as a fake, albeit an unintentional one. The image was designed as a placeholder by the Expansys team to use on GS4 landing page. After finding its way to the usually reliable @evleaks Twitter handle, the image was posted online as a purported first look at the upcoming Samsung flagship’s final design.

While it once again puts us back in the dark as to the Galaxy S4’s appearance, the silver lining is that the rather bland picture presented as the phone is not representative of the real deal. It leaves some room for a much more interesting look, rather than the simple Galaxy Note-esque stylings seen in the render.

Looks like we might be waiting until March 14th and Samsung official announcement to get our real first look at the highly-anticipated Galaxy S4.

  1. And this is a surprise to anyone?

    1. Exactly! haha a certain Sherlock phrase comes to mind….

      1. Elementary my dear Watson?

oooooooooooh… I see what you did there. >_>

    2. Chris was pretty sure it was real because of Evleaks track record…

      1. Well, Evleaks did release a few actual pictures of devices and leaked ads that turned out to be true, but with any leaked info, it should be taken with a grain of salt.

        1. especially when the render is as bad as the render given this time lol

      2. We talked about this forever on Twitter — I never ONCE said I was sure it was real. In fact, I though it looked super weird (“cartoony”were my exact words).

I just thought it was silly to say anything from Evleaks is 100% “fake,” (like some people were doing) given their track record.

In my video, in my post, I tried to reiterate this time and time again: Evleaks has a high accuracy for leaks and no one can be “certain” of a leak in either direction. It’s always a possibility.

        1. ;)

          1. I NEVER SAID THAT! *FLIPS TABLE*

          2. Whoa whoa whoa. We need to settle this like men.

            *whispers hoarsely* Thunderdome.

        2. You said it was cartoony, but also said there was no reason to doubt Evleaks because of their track record.

    3. Exactly. Only idiots thought that it was the real deal.

  2. You don’t say…

  3. Bullshit

  4. What’s the rush. Its a phone. It will look like a phone.

    1. Yeah, a rectangle with rounded corners, that may or may not have the following:
      Buttons
      a bezel
      rockers
      1 or 2 cameras
      a logo.

say what you will, all smart phones have the same basic shape and design.

      1. Wow i didn’t know that, thanks for the info

  5. The only thing I hope that is true about this render is the lack of physical keys, a la Nexus 4, I think that’d be really nice.

  6. This is a surprise why? If that was an official render, they would’ve done more than use a system font to ID it.

    1. Or actually brand the device with “Samsung.”

  7. So glad. I really hope they dont do such boxy corners.

  8. Nooo! :( I was excited one of their phones were finally going to look cool!

    1. There’s still hope!

  9. No sh!t sherlocks!

  10. I wasn’t surprised to know that this was a fake rendering; it looks too much like the SII and Note. I am still looking forward to seeing what Samsung puts into their new phones on the 14th, such as a better camera and a 1080p display which I’m most exited for. I like to catch my shows on my phone during the commute to and from work at DISH, since it takes a bit of time. I do this using the DISH Anywhere app on my phone, which lets me stream wherever I go, so it’d be great to catch my shows on a higher resolution display.

  11. This is so obvious to be fake and ppl still believe it, wth?

  12. Why anyone would think for a second that that is the real thing is over me…

  13. I really want the GS4 to retain the “pebbled” design or whatever they call it. A lot of people don’t like it, but it makes the GS3 sexier IMO and I love the look it gives the phone from various angles. Anyhoo, if they’re just going to make it look like an uglier Note I might not get the Galaxy as much as I’m wanting it.
