ASUS has just announced an exciting new device at its 2013 press conference for Mobile World Congress. Meet the PadFone Infinity, the new phone by ASUS that can fit inside the back of a slate to deliver a tablet experience when docked.
The smartphone bit of the package is a 5-inch 1080p HD device with Android 4.2, a quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, a whopping 64GB of internal storage, a 13 megapixel lens with 5 elements and f/2.0 aperture that can shoot 100 sequential shots at 8 frames per second, full HD video recording, a 2 megapixel sensor on the front, 32 or 64GB of internal storage, and more. ASUS is also boasting up to 19 hours of smartphone talk time.
When docked inside the tablet — which has a 10.1 inch 1080p display, a 5,000 mAh battery, a 1 megapixel front-facing camera, GPS, 4G LTE, a speaker and more — that becomes 41 hours of talk time, and the dock can fully charge the smartphone up to three times on a full charge. The device will available starting Q2 for a combined price of €999 when you buy the smartphone and tablet dock packaged, though pricing will vary from market to market. We’ll look to get some more diverse pricing information from ASUS, but be sure to rad on for full press details in the meantime.

WANT.
Totally agree! I just have the foll. questions : 1. Which is the screen technology being used? 2. Can one buy the phone without the pad/dock? 3. Sound quality for both – the phone speaker and through the headphones. Hope you can find out this info.
Too bad it will never be available here in the states just like the other padfones.
Does the phone itself look a little iPhone5-ey from the front and side to anyone else? I’d be surprised if they don’t get a call…
If only this would come to the US and be on Verizon…
Why didn’t they bring the Padfone to the US? I would own one right now if they had.
Dayumm Asus, you make sexy devices <3
That design on the rears bottom looks strikingly similar to the htc one zero gap..
Overall I really like the design.
its only my opinion, but isnt 5″ pushing the limits of phone size? great specs and great company, but why are all companies shooting for a phablet?
To bad there is no keyboard dock anymore for this line that is what made the first gen so popular I think having the extra 2 batteries and not just a single extra battery could go all day and night with the triple setup.
The only phone and tab i would give up my note 2 and nexus 10 for
Now if they would combine this with their AIO concept, it’d be just like tech Russian dolls.
$1k? wow
Wow, the front of that phone looks exactly like the iPhone if you substitute the 3 capacitive buttons for the home button.
Nice love that kind of stuff. Sadly no love for the US. :-(
Too much money when I can get my phone contract subsidized for $100 and pick up a Nexus 7 for $250
If I wouldn’t have an Padfone 2 already, I surely would want this. Excited about the one after this. Hope ASUS will continue to make Padfones! I think the Padfone 2 was the best mobile device decision I have ever made.
