LG teases new devices on Facebook page, could lead to MWC unveiling

HTC plans on unveiling their flagship M7 ahead of Mobile World Congress. Samsung plans to debut the Galaxy S4 after the event in Barcelona. Will LG be among the few manufacturers remaining that actually use the show as a platform to launch a new line of Android devices?

The company has posted a small tease to they Facebook page, a picture  with the text “New series will be unveiled.” A caption below the image reads, “See what surprise LG has in store for you this time, with an unexpected distinction.” So what, exactly, could we see?

For starters, the LG Optimus G Pro will almost surely be on hand. The phone has already been outed by Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo and should see a release in April. The updated version of the Optimus G likely won’t be alone. Last year LG unveiled their budget-friendly L series, and we expect to see a refreshed line of devices carrying that brand as well.

But what about this “unexpected distinction?” This has us thinking we might get a real surprise, indeed. Possibly the next iteration of the Optimus Vu? Has LG abandoned the Optimus 3D, or could we see an updated version? Will a phone sporting a completely unexpected technology make its debut? The rumor mill hasn’t provided much in the lead up to the event.

We’re anxious to check out LG’s new line, if only because it might be one of the few real surprises left for the global mobile show. LG wants to strike while the iron is hot and capitalize on the success of the Optimus G and Nexus 4. Mobile World Congress is the perfect event to do so.
