MetroPCS getting the Samsung Galaxy S3 in October

39

The Samsung Galaxy S3 enjoyed a very nice simultaneous launch in America’s five biggest carriers, and now it’s time for some of the little guys to get some love. MetroPCS has officially confirmed its plans to carry the device that had the smartphone world going crazy this past summer.

For your money you’ll be getting a 4.7 inch Super AMOLED HD display with a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera with 1080p video, a 2 megapixel front-facing camera, and LTE. Don’t expect this thing to be cheap as MetroPCS doesn’t exactly dabble in the subsidy pot.

Still, if you’re a fan of the carrier’s value-priced servers but found yourself longing for a high-end device then you can’t get much better than this. Look out for it in October, and be sure to let MetroPCS know you’re interested using this form. [via Unwired View]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. For $50 unlimited LTE I just may jump on this with Metro having decent 4G coverage in my area. I don’t know what the speeds are like but as long as I can stream video without buffering then that’s cool with me.

    1. Check that coverage before you leap!

  2. The S3’s screen is 4.8 inches.

And the unlimited 4gLTE is $55.

    1. This is great for the drug dealers on metro…

    2. Herbert replied I am in shock that some people able to make $6679 in a few weeks on the network. did you look this(Click on menu Home)

    3. yea i saw that and i was like wtk lol

  3. It’s actually a 4.3inch screen… Pssh… What a moron :-P

    1. It’s 4.8

    2. Nuh uh!! It’s 4.6″ you inbred jackass!

    3. 2 years ago it was 4.3, Samsung keeps it pushin’ ’round here!

  4. great sleek looking phone, with an okay OS (not the best though), coming to a horrible phone provider with horrible coverage and customer service…nota good idea. Your best bet would to be to get this phone on AT&T’s network. At least then you would get a subsidized price on it with better coverage. MetroPCS will most likely charge over half a grand for the damned thing, and you won’t be using it to it’s full capability, not on a network like theirs at least.

  5. Metro LTE speeds around me are 2-4 Mbps.

    1. 3.2G!

  6. Metro PCS is the first carrier here in Mendocino County with LTE, they have beaten Verizon and AT&T to the punch, not too shabby for a smaller carrier.

  7. it will be going for $500 on metro which is $150 cheaper than what virgin charged for the iphone 4s. i get 5-6mbps up and 2-3mbps down. thats more than enough to stream what you want from the web. i’ll be getting this bad boy day of.

  8. Better Deal = T-Mobile SGS3 + $30 a month 5 gig prepaid plan

    1. its better if you can stay under 5gbs of data and only talk for 100 minutes. plus tmobile is charging $50 more for their model.

  9. Metro PCS has slowly gotten better. I remember when the best phone they had was the original RAZR and it was like $300.

    1. Samsung messenger was also that price…

  10. I had hearded that were a 9.56 inch screen but that new iphone 9 got that 10 inch retina…… -.- why are some people allowed to be online 4.3 psshhh idiot

  11. Now for my real comment, with this beast being on so many carriers and i5 so limited I just don’t see it getting outsold by that fruity company

    1. Cricket is picking up that pile Apple is selling, best improvement from 4s? …now the screen doesn’t shatter when you drop it from a foot off the ground.

  12. MetroPCS is like being on house arrest, in most circumstances you can’t step out of your house without your service cutting out. You do get unlimited roaming texts… But that roaming voice is going to cost you my dear!! I’m still not sure why they have the amount of subscribers that they have… You can basically get that service on Boost/Virgin Mobile for almost the same rate!

    1. And when was the last time you used MetroPCS? What you’re saying sounds like the way it was when the company first started…
Have you look at the MPCS coverage map lately? It’s not perfect, but it merits respect…

    2. look i work for metro pcs, and the coverage is quite excellent, everyday there are customers that come from the TOP SELLING services such as AT&T and VERIZON and switch to Metro and they have no complaints, they are satisfied, so you are underestimating Metro, cause if you didnt know, Sprint ad TMobile are battling it out to merge with us

      1. When you can’t pay your bill, where else are you going to go? Metro.

Check your facts, T-Mob is battling Sprint to merge with MetroPCS because of the spectrum, not because of the great coverage. T-Mob is taking that spectrum and converting metro to FULL GSM coverage

No one in their right mind would get metro if they could afford one of the top four carriers

        1. I can easily pay 70+ a month for phone service, I just choose not to. Why do people look down on you if you decide you want to save money and not be locked into a 2 year contract? As far as I am concerned, more money in my pocket is money I can spend on other things I like.

          1. Because there are better options than MetroPCS. Metro’s “4G” when I tested was pulling in 2.1 MBPS on the download, and they don’t have good nationwide coverage. AT&T (through Straight Talk) gives you anywhere from 2-7 MBPS download and has nationwide coverage. Boost Mobile has good network coverage and WiMax 4G if you’re in a covered area
Both are under 50 a month

          2. I get 3 to 5 mbps on metro. Unlimited for 55$ and I have lived in 3 different cities in the past 3 years. It has worked fine, also I don’t travel for business or anything like that so I don’t necessarily need the coverage of the entire US of A.
Places I have gone to and had it worked are. Miami, Sarsota, Tampa, Boston, Rhode Island, New York. And Los Angelos.
While I am sure there are places where the coverage isn’t what it should be. I don’t think it is as horrible as it is made out to be.

  13. Metro pcs has always good phone but This is the best of the best samsung galaxy S3

  14. Wow metro finally getting a good phone

  15. I work in the OC and travel through the Orange county and greater LA area. I have both MetroPCS with an LG Esteem and Sprint with Blackberry (business phone). They have very similar coverage. The Metro internet entertainment experience is much faster and better. I also love to stream live on Rhapsody all day long. Battery life and the keyboard for email on Blackberry is the only good things on my Sprint service. Metro might charge 500 for an SG3 but in a year you save that and then some. My same plan on the next cheapest is about 120.00 to 130.00 then add 15 bucks in tax and fees. So unless your phone company gives you your self-esteem (Pun intended), by paying twice as much for less, its a no brainier pick metro. I am looking forward to finally having the option to pick a top tier phone with out financing it and being price gouged for a minimum sentence of two years.

  16. I live in Atlanta and I get 3-5 mb speed on my esteem . The S3 is just flat out better ad im sure will see a little speed increase. Either way I can stream Netflix and anything else with no lag period. The phone itself is the drawback its old OS and 512 ram make it weak, Cant wait for the 2 gigs ram in S3 … And bigger screen :]

  17. IM JUST GONNA SAY THIS, I WORK FOR METROPCS, WHEN THIS PHONE COMES OUT, I WILL POST A VIDEO ON YOUTUBE SHOWING HOW FAST THIS PHONE WILL BE WITH OUR 4GLTE COMPARED TO AT&T AND VERZION TO SHUT ALL OF YOU UP, IF YOU DIDNT KNOW TMOBILE AND SPRINT OUR BATTILING FOR US BECAUSE OF LTE, OUR INTERNET IS WAY FASTER THAN THOSE COMPANIES, I HAVE THE SAMSUNG GALAXY S2 FOR SPRINT AND I PUT IT TO THE TEST AGAINST THE METRO PCS PHONE LG MOTION AND THE MOTION DUSTED MY GALAXY BY 6 SECONDS BY PLAYING A YOUTUBE VIDEO….COVERAGE IS NOT A PROBLEM, AND THE S3 DATA PLAN WILL BE UNLIMITED FOR $55 A MONTH WHICH IS MORE THAN HALF OF WHAT OTHER COMPANY BILLS ARE. WATCH IT BE THE BEST OF THE BEST

  18. When can I buy it?

  19. does anyone know when this comes out?

  20. Out of all the phone..this will actually be my phone I buy with my money and love it. You dont need atnt or verizon… Metro beats it all…lol I get better service with metro than other carrier.. So yep this will be a good year for me and metro..

  21. now all people will have to do is keep their phones lines on, you know metropcs will cut your service off if u dont pay that bill on the first. alot of people are going to be walking around with galaxy s3 with no service!
