The LG Optimus G was shown off in the United States recently, and with its showing stateside naturally comes news of when it will arrive. LG has mentioned that the device will be here Q4 of this year.
With that, they’ve also posted a new 6 minute video tour of the device for those of us who want to see LG’s new Optimus UI before playing with one themselves.
The phone’s beast-like specs turned more than a few heads in the mobile space, but it’ll be the user interface, software support, and bugs that’ll determine whether or not the Optimus G will be the attractive device we’re hoping it will be. Watch the video above.
They can keep the skin, but I would like some of those features to come on over to stock. Some of them can be a little more polished to match stock. Bring the specs over as well. I’d rather have the A15 though. 1080p screen. Might as well ask for the Oppo.
The Oppo will never leave China, and as far as support or updates go, I wouldn’t expect much. Killer specs on it though.
4th Qtr….nothing more specific…?
That’s only 12 days away.
Color me impressed… I might check that one out if it hits Verizon
Nice phone!!!
Holy crap, that was extremely impressive. Buttery smooth UI (even on ICS), cool features that add to the Android experience. LG’s the Android underdog right now. They have the potential to be great, let’s hope they can make it happen :)
man when this thing gets root and stock jelly bean its going to fly
Their sw support still suck so. No more LG phone. But i hope for LG nexus, nice design.
Wow I cannot believe none of these tech sites have not said anything about the 1st MNVO(i believe) to offer 4G LTE…Voyager Mobile….plans start at $17(talk)…$19(Talk &text)…$39(talk/text & Internet)….powered by Sprint!!! And not only that they are offering a 32GB GALAXY S3 with LTE a 1st I believe on a USA network…whats going on Report!!!
I am still rocking my Droid X, so I am out of the loop of UI’s. Is everything shown here LG specific or were some of it just features of ICS shown on this phone?
Majority didn’t feel like ICS features to me, but many of these features either look useless or can be done with most any custom launcher or messaging app. Such as the whole changing swiping things or messaging style, and every phone supports live wallpapers. The feature with texting while playing a video looks useless since you could either not see what the person was typing or wouldn’t be able to see the video well. Those camera features are definitely not standard ICS or JB though. nor are useless things like zoom in to see just your background, and I don’t know of any apps that let you zoom in while playing a movie so that’s LG specific, but not exactly useful for the most part.
zoom while playing movie is not useless at all! I always want to do that.
Zoom To Fap function!
Get MX Player. Better Codec support, Zoom video, Gesture Controls, Lockscreen feature (so you don’t accidentally stop or skip the video), HTTP streaming, and lots more. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
I almost wet myself when the benchmark score came up.
Charlie bit me!!!
Uhh, okay I want this phone. Never had LG before or even considered them. This is amazing though. If this turns out to be the next nexus, I can really see why.
What a Sexy Device!! Bring it on Verizon
Snappy. Me like.
It looks like a really nice phone, but LG lost me because of the G2x. Never gonna buy a device from them again. Now, I’m very happy with my GS3. :)
A formidable foe to the GSIII.
Just when I thought I was set on the note two this comes out. Wow did they make improvements. This could easily be the galaxy killer.
Anyone else notice that at the end of the video the phone is shown without having the crystal back plate?
I have to say that I am genuinely impressed.
LG actually put together a nice package with hardware and software!
This looks really sweet but I think it would need to be nexus for me to consider getting it. There are too many LG horror stories out there, and I checked out their terrible new phablet at the Verizon store today. It crashed and rebooted twice in the span of about 5 minutes, and I was only doing simple things like opening up the app drawer or web browser. It did not inspire confidence in LG’s software.
