Grooveshark

[Update] Grooveshark missing from the Google Play Store

Just two days after Grooveshark was reinstated in the Google Play Store, it appears the official app for the music streaming service has gone missing again. If you don’t remember, Grooveshark was originally removed from the Google Play Store because of copyright concerns with major record labels.

It was later offered as a third party download up until three days ago when it came back to the Google Play Store. All of us rejoiced, but it appears that was about as short lived as it could get. We’ve reached out to Grooveshark to see  what’s going on, and will update this article with any relevant information we can get. [via Reddit]

[Update]: we have received the following statement from Grooveshark:

“We have filed a counter-notice and are working with Google and their Google Play reinstatement process to get our our app back in the market.  Until then, our android app remains available for all at http://mobile.grooveshark.com/android and we thank all the users who continue to support open music, open markets, and open internet.”
