Vodafone UK picks up the Huawei Ascend P1 for August release, available now at Canada’s WIND Mobile

The Android 4.0-powered Huawei Ascend P1 is about to find a home for itself on Vodafone in the UK. Staying with Huawei’s theme of providing affordable smartphone options, the phone will be available for free on plans starting at £26 per month. The Ascend P1, however, is not your typical low-cost device from the Chinese manufacturer. It features a 1.5GHz dual-core TI OMAP processor, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD display, and 8MP camera along with enhancements like Dolby Mobile sound.

We recently reviewed the Ascend P1, and while a comparison to the the current generation of quad-core smartphones would be unfair, we found the handset to be a more than capable Ice Cream Sandwich device. Look for it at Vodafone starting in August. The Ascend P1 is also available today from Canada’s WIND mobile, with pricing starting at $49.

  1. Can get the One X for the same price, so I don’t think it would be unfair to compare them.
