40

After weeks of waiting for Verizon to come clean on a release date for the Samsung Galaxy S3 handset optimized for their network, Big Red has issued a statement today pinning the phone’s launch to July 10th. Mark your calendars. The date is not unknown to those awaiting the delivery of the Galaxy S3, as it has been previously referenced in the shipping information provided with pre-orders. The 16GB version of the device will be available both in stores and online, while the 32GB can only be ordered through Verizon’s site. The larger storage option should hit stores at a later date.

Verizon comes a little late to the North American GS3 party, but users can still expect the same great piece of hardware. Pricing starts at $200 on a two-year contract. Hit up the press release for more info.

  1. They had to wait until after they fired up their shared data plans before releasing anything new. I feel badly for my friends on Verizon.

    1. Don’t feel bad for anyone. They can sure switch carriers if they don’t like the new plans.

    2. Everyone had option to preorder for three weeks before shared plans launched and lock in unlimited data. And if you still want unlimited data, you can still get it – you just have to pay full price for the phone.

      1. Perhaps you meant that you can still retain unlimited data by paying full price for the phone, since you haven’t been able to “get” unlimited data since they went to tiered plans a year ago.

    3. I don’t know about you but I’m saving $30 a month on share everything plans and I now have unlimited minutes instead of 1400 a month. Oh and I have mobile hotspot for free.

      1. Same story with me. I am now saving $40 a month by moving to Share Everything… It was worth giving up unlimited data when I pay the bill every month.

  2. Pre-orderd mine and I still keep my unlimited data.

    1. Same here, on both my lines.

  3. Gig a de…gig a de…. gigggggg aaaaa deeeee!!!

  4. I’ll take it and a JB too!

  5. Why is my preorder shipping after the launch date?

    1. I preordered and still have ship date of July 9.

    2. Likely they sold the first “batch” and then pushed the pre-order back for each additional “batch”. You may still get it early like some are (no confirmation for me yet) but even if you don’t you are guaranteed one and don’t have to go to the store to get it.

  6. When will the pre-orders ship? I could care less when they will be available in the store.

  7. You know how pissed all of you S3 buyers are gonna be when the next Nexus hits the streets in a few months? I’m putting both of my kids on month to month T-Mobile with Nexus S’s to check out the service in my area. If its acceptable I’m jumping the Verizon ship when the new Nexus launches. My experience with verizon service and reception has rapidly declined since they launched LTE. Lately I feel like I’m on a crappy regional carrier in an area with horrible roaming. Unlimited data doesn’t really matter if it doesn’t work 90% of the time.

    1. Well, the S3 is not going to lose its value “in the next few months”. If someone really wants a different phone, I’m sure they could sell their S3 no problem. Get back to me in a year.

    2. I’m going to Verizon from Sprint for that very reason. My friends here are pulling down 25megs with the Big Red. I’m barely getting 2G with my Sprint. And the dropped calls have gotten horrible. Their towers are weak. While Verizon keeps upgrading.

  8. So the only reason to pre-order is to keep your unlimited data. Otherwise yo will get your phone just as fast ordering it on the 10th.

  9. Beautiful Collection of paid VZW spammers here…My Mom bought a new Leer Jet with the money she saved with the, new share everything fable

    1. Although I don’t know what such a scenario might look like, I’m sure that some folks do save money with the new plans… much like the fact that some folks come out ahead playing roulette or the state lottery! (The odds may be similar, too!)

  10. Oh I guess being late to the party should get a golfclap.

  11. I have 2 of these pre-ordered, and my account says ship date 7.9.12. does that mean i will receive it on the 9th, or it will ship on the 9th?

    1. Ship. (hey, it isn’t called a “ship date” for nothin’!)

  12. I just got my shipment confirmation for my galaxy III from verizon in an email they charged my card it will be here july 5th!!!

      1. Did you get a email confirming the shipment? my fingers hurt from checking status every 10 minutes LOL

        1. yes i got an email then i checked my bank account and they took the money its on its way i checked the tracking!! sent fedex overnight

    1. What was your original SHIP BY date?

      1. July 9th they sent it overnight so if it wasnt for the 4th of july id have it tom!

    2. Same here! I can’t wait!

  13. just notified I’ll get my sIII on july 5th

  14. Those that have ship confirmations, what was your original SHIP BY date?

    1. I’ve been wondering the same thing.

  15. Just got an email telling me that my white 32gig shipped today and will arrive July 5th!!!!!!!! I pre ordered 5 mins after pre sales started.

  16. Can somebody please tell me what would happen if you didn’t have the money in your account yet and they were gonna ship it early!? Mine says the 9th but won’t have it all in the bank yet.

    1. They will cancel your order

  17. My wife got her e-mail as well. 16 gig white S III is shipping today, will arrive this weekend.

  18. Just got email from Verizon. Galaxy s3 shipped today, should arrive Thursday.

  19. im igoing ito iwait ifor ithe inew iphone iand icompare ibefore ibuying iit

  20. Lol that date is totally wrong. My G 3 is being delivered today 7-5-2012! I ordered my 32 gig within the first 5 minutes! So delivery is July 5th not July 10th. Cant wait.
