Playstation Suite now Playstation Mobile, HTC honored as first hardware partner

12

Last night at E3, Sony announced they’d be changing the branding of Playstation suite to encompass everything mobile is about. Playstation Suite is now simply Playstation Mobile. Not the most exciting of news, of course, but they then went on to announce the first hardware partner who would participate in Sony’s program which would allow smartphone users to download exclusive games, including some Playstation 1 Classics.

HTC is the first hardware partner willing to show other OEMs that it doesn’t hurt to play nice in this fierce smartphone battle. No devices have been announced for the service yet, but we hope the wait won’t be long. For more gaming news, don’t forget to check out the newly-launched GameFans.com!

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. I. am. excite. I love HTC and PlayStation.

    1. I totally agree and thoroughly concur.

      1. I thoroughly agree and totally concur!!

  2. What I would like to see… PlayStation mobile to be available for all android devices. Why should they limit themselves to just HTC? I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels this way. Sony should make it available for everyone, unless the whole purpose is just to sell more HTC devices. In which case, bravo HTC. What makes you any different than any other cutthroat company, such as, apple?

    1. It probably comes down to a hardware & OS specification to make for a good gaming experience. These were games that were originally written to run on a proprietary platform. Porting them to some sort of cross platform compiler like Java can cause performance issues.

      1. Agreed. And im sure time and money would be an issue. But, imagine the revenue if they actually pull it off.

    2. Sony and HTC have always had a close relationship, if I recall, the first Xperia was made by HTC. Nothing wrong with an exclusive to help them with sales, Sammy sure doesn’t need the help.

      1. I agree with what you say about their relationship and the xperia. I just hope they don’t shut out all the other android/PlayStation fans out there so would like a piece of the gaming action.

      2. I remember the w810i sony ericsson it was probably my favorite phone!

    3. wait… did you just compare HTC to apple? How many lawsuits do HTC have pending against other people right now?
and in what way is them agreeing to work with ps mobile and allowing anyone else to as well being like apple?

If the new kid is in the sandbox playing alone and I go and sit with him and no one else wants to join us… and then you accuse me of being a bully… I’m going to throw a firetruck at you.

      1. Dude, stop trolling!!! That’s not what I said. Nor did I say anything about lawsuits. And the comparison you made was total BS. Go find another venue if you want to read between the lines. I would debate this with you, but I would rather debate with someone who will actually listen instead of hearing what they want to and taking everything out of context. Have a good day sir.

        1. “Why should they limit themselves to just HTC?”<you

"HTC honored as first hardware partner" <them
In what way is this limited… they just said they would be working with them FIRST which means there will be more.
          otherwise it would say ONLY
I am reading lines not between them.
Your entire comment is based on a gross exaggeration of the story. But I'm the one taking things out of context…..
