The HTC One X is a big, beautiful phone, but what you might not be able to tell from looking at it is just how solid its build feels. Maybe this video will help. What you see above is one of the most convincing demonstrations of the Gorilla Glass technology that lends its durability to the One X’s display. Yes, you are witnessing two minutes of hammer time courtesy of a couple of zany Russians using the front of the phone to drive a nail straight through a piece of wood. It’s hard to make out due to the quality of the video, but I challenge you to find even a scratch. Pretty impressive, but in case the results can’t be duplicated we’d say it is best to leave the One X hammering to those that may or may not have tipped back one too many vodka shots.

Just as I placed an order of a screen protector from bse!
I tried the HTC branded screen protectors and they were awful. Didn’t fit the phone (yeah it didn’t fit their own phone), made the screen have this rainbow effect, and curled up and off in a couple days. It comes in a 2 pack and both did the same.
They’re not talking Russian..
That’s about right
And the GNex doesn’t have gorilla glass why???
I’m getting sick of seeing “Gnex” everywhere.
You should know its not gonna stop. It’s the best phone with a fully open/pure android experience. This site attracts a lot of people who want that, and since a large group of those people were coming off two year contracts with OG droids around the time it came out, most people picked up the gnex
The GNex has fortified glass similar to “Gorilla Glass.” I’ve seen someone drop their Nexus and it slide across asphalt face down. When they picked it up, everything but the screen was scratched. It was amazing.
Unfortunately for me, I dropped my gnex twice. First time, it fell out of my pocket and created a fracture horizontally from one end to the other. That probably destroyed the integrity of the glass. The second similar drop shattered the glass altogether. Samsung has it now for repair.
Because of the curved screen.
Well that certainly was impressive. But can you use it as a screwdriver too.
Correction: But will it blend?
To the writer, you might want to change the title to :
Don’t try this at home: Crazy Chinese use HTC One X as a hammer.
Because they were speaking Chinese instead of Russian.
Well, technically “Chinese” isn’t a language.. O_o
uhmm…. o_O?
Still needs to be changed, regardless if Chinese is language or not
Take the article for what it is. It’s not a big deal.
Accuracy is a big deal.
You write it then. -_-
I’m not the one getting paid to write it smart a$$
Why do I even try with some people…
Don’t try then……
Rhetorical, bud.
It’s a big deal to me, because i DO happen to be russian, and this article is misleading. If you were another nationality, you might be able to understand why. It’s the same as a Guatemalan getting offended for being confused with a mexican.
Give it to a nurse, it will be destroyed in 10 minutes or less.
Sounds to me as though you got a good story to tell, bud.
Who’s to say they’re not RUSSIANS speaking something other than RUSSIAN,as language nor ethnicity doesn’t recognize geographical boundaries drawn on a map………..
Russian’s can’t speak clear chinese without an accent, THATS WHY. DUMB ASS
I’ve stopped buying screen protectors since the G2x.
Anybody else noticing micro scratches on their One X? You can’t tell indoors or when the phone is on, but in the sun you can see very small scratches on the display.
Really? First of all… I’m jealous you have a One X. Lol Second, how have you been treating the display? Bangin’ nails with it or just keepin’ it in your pocket?
Just in my pocket and I have been super safe about not throwing keys in my pocket. You have to hold the phone at the right angle, but they are there. At first I could only really see them in sunlight, but now I can see a few clearly indoors. (And by clearly I mean looking intently and moving the phone to the right angle). I thought Gorilla Glass 2 was supposed to be less scratch prone.
But I do really love this phone. It is such a joy to use.
The HTC OneX does not have a Gorilla Glass 2 screen, it comes with the first Gorilla Glass screen, one of the first phones being released with Gorilla Glass 2 is the Galaxy S 3.

Looks like I am not the only one.
Btw that was just posted today too.
it gets micro scratches really* easy, Chris. i treat all of my phones like they’re so delicate that even the slightest bump would break it. i exchanged my first HOX due to the volume rocker being really lose. within the two days of having it and babying it despite knowing it was going to be an exchange i still managed to get a micro scratch in the bottom right corner. lots of places say it’s making use of Gorilla Glass 2 but the “fortified glass” on my GNex which is launch day old doesn’t have any micro scratches. makes me very suspicious of the claims of it using GG2…
Mines perfect still, and I hope it stays that way, heh.
Yeah I’m noticing micro sratches on my One X. That’s nothing new tho.. never dropped my old Vibrant or put it in my pocket with keys or coins, it’s in mint condition and it’s filled with micro scratches.
You didn’t actually reply to me, but I’m guessing this was in response to my comment. Ok just seeing if that was something else others were noticing. Like I said, you can’t tell when the display is on, but they are there.
Copying the Lumia 900. How creative.
stop pulling an “apple” copied this, copied that shit
I didn’t bring Apple into this. But you have to admit, this is exactly whats someone did with the Lumia 900. I’m not a fanboy of any company by the way. I have a LG ENV3 dumbphone.
Well, what else would you do with the phone to prove integrity? The nail banging method has been used for years.
chill. i wasn’t calling you a fan boy. they should try this with every phone. who cares if its been done on another phone before. its fun and a way to see how it holds up.
at least the Lumia 900 is good at something?
I’m pretty sure they were speaking in Chinese. Well, they could be Russians that speak Chinese. :)
Either they are using rubber nails or my phone is a bad pick of the litter, because by far my biggest gripe is how flimsy it is. I have dropped it maybe twice, NEVER even hard enough for it to bounce or anything like that, and the screen is scratched, through chassis is scratched, there is a lump in the chassis and there is a CRACK in the corner of the screen. Compare this to my DHD which could still pass for new. Not happy at all.
…Results may vary?
gnex is not the best phone for one reason. the crappy camera. I loved my gnexus. screen etc. felt great. but took it to my daughters graduation and it was a piece of crap. my gs2 has way better pics. outside of that, yes the gnexus is completely awesome. but the decision for the basic camera wasn’t a good one imo.
They are Taiwanese, speaking mandarin, I know because I’m from Taiwan! stupid just because HTC is from Taiwan, they still dont have to trash an awesome phone like the ONE X lol, but they said there’s no damage tho, pretty neat
Voice on video is not Russian.
Ahaha they did this with a lumia a couple of weeks ago.
I always cringe at cell phone tests like these.
Wish my Rezound was scratch resistant. I have an ugly little scratch right in the middle of the screen and I take real good care of it. I wouldn’t be so pissed if the scratch was off to the side somewhere but the middle? Pissed.
