Get the LG Optimus M+ for $129 from MetroPCS

5

Want a cheap, off-contract phone, and live within the MetroPCS coverage area? Then the Optimus M+ might interest you quite a bit. For $129, you get the Gingerbread phone with a 3.5-inch HVGA screen, 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, 800MHz processor, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0 and a microSD memory card slot.

Not too shabby for the price, and personally I like the presence of such options. These phones aren’t there to give users the experience of cutting-edge Android capabilities: they are there to put an end to dumbphones.

  1. HVGA? No way. that’s terrible on a 2.8 inch screen, let alone a 3.5 inch one.

  2. How can anyone recommend anything less than a dual core for Android?  Maybe a 1.2 ghz…but never anything less.

    1. I’ve got a myTouch 4G with a 1GHz single-core, and it works perfectly. I haven’t once found a reason to upgrade other than my desire for a much better camera. For $129 off contract, I think this is a pretty good deal.

  3. This is intended to be an entry-level Android phone guys, so be realistic tic. I do agree that the new “low-end” should be 1 – 1.2ghz but that is something that manufacturers need to get on board with. And with prices for parts continuing to drop, we’ll probably start seeing that real soon.

  4. There’s NOTHING WRONG with a 3.5 inch screen.
