T-Mobile Confirms Sensation 4G and Amaze 4G Are Getting Ice Cream Sandwich

14

T-Mobile has confirmed to their customers that two of their HTC phons, the Sensation 4G and Amaze 4G, will be getting Ice Cream Sandwich. I don’t think many of us doubted these dual-core phones would eventually get the update, but if you did you can now rest easy. We’re willing to bet the farm that these won’t come with HTC Sense 4.0, as evidenced by the HTC Vivid’s update. Of course, there will always be after-market options for that stuff (even if they aren’t all perfect right now). [T-Mobile 1|2 via Android Police]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. But, but, but….  what about my G1?!?!? :P

    1. G1 is going straight to Jelly Bean, just to prove how awesome Android is :-)

  2. Confused here…HTC said the Sensation 4G was getting ICS by the end of this month..Is this not the case now?

    1. HTC has already done their part. In other countries the HTC Sensation is already running ICS. T-Mobile has to do their part now, whatever that part happens to be.

  3. Sweeeeet, I have been enjoying my Sensation 4G since June last year. I too am frustrated with HTC Sense and have tried Go Launcher but have settled with ADW. But as an armchair geek since ’80 (yep I had a Vic 20) I am just a bit excited.

  4. why no love for the mytouch 4g slide? dual core and it came out AFTER the sensation 4g..

  5. Tmobile let me get a new sensation for free with no new contract to replace defective g2. I pay for insurance though still pretty dam sweet.

  6. If only the ICS update would come sans-Sense. Sense is so bad that my next phone, or two, or three will not be from HTC. At least with TouchWiz you can just install a new launcher, with Sense they’ve tried to integrate it by replacing contacts, phone, calendar, and so on, and with far inferior products in my opinion. Still, looking forward to ICS…

    1. I decided to try Sense on my new Sensation, having used CM for the last 3 years, and was surprised at how nice it is.  It runs well on the Sensation, and it does allow me to change the launcher, I can switch between Sense & Launcher Pro as normal.

      1. Sorry, to be clear I have ADW installed, but that doesn’t completely “de-sensify” my device. I miss my Nexus, it just worked so nice…

  7. You guys keep using the same picture of ice cream to represent ICS, and everytime I see that pic I just want that ice cream! HAHA

  8. Unless it comes tomorrow, TMO is seriously slacking on getting us that promised update.

  9. I’m sick of waiting for ics. I either gonna root my phone or go on and get sgs2

  10. Hell i’m still waiting for My t-mobile sgs2 to get ics
