If This is a Sample Photo from the Samsung Galaxy S III, I’d Be Disappointed

38

A photo has hit Picasa with some interesting EXIF data. It claims that photo was taken with a Samsung GT-I9300, the model number believed to be reserved for the yet-to-be-announced Samsung Galaxy S3. The camera is 8.1 megapixels. It’s hard to put a ton of faith into EXIF data so I’m having a hard time getting excited. And if this photo is anything to go by (that’s if it’s real, of course), that is one sorry camera on the Galaxy S III. My original Galaxy S took better indoor photos and I have a hard time imagining that Samsung would regress in this area. Take it for what you will. [Picasa via AllAboutSamsung, cheers Lars!]

[Update]: We’re told this is a test with HDR, so the photographer having shaky hands may explain the blurriness.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. God, I hope not. Maybe it was with another one of the tablets sitting at the bottom of the photo.

    1. That was my guess.

  2. Of course, it could be one sorry photographer, too.

  3. LOL can’t be SGS3 camera… quality is lower then SGS1 :P

    edit: could be front-cam…

  4. Er, just look at their “whole” Picasa album and Google+ account. That photo is the only thing they have posted…  at all. And the user name? I don’t think anyone who is waiting for the SGS3 has to worry about this photo at all.

  5. Check this out, both of the images are taken from my i9000, edited exinfo and first is galaxy s3 and second galaxy s4 !

    1. Fake!

      1. What gave it away?

        1. I wasn’t serious.

          1. Sure you were.  Quit faking being real.

          2. Man you so got me.  I really did think he posted a picture from the Galaxy S4…

  6. Dear God… someone tell people to wipe their lenses off when taking photos with their phone. 90% of the time, when you see that kind of blur.. someone either a.) hasn’t wiped off their lens, and it has fingerprints and crap all over it b.) they didn’t take the plastic backing off the phone.

    1. could def be plastic backing….

    1. yes i cant wait to carry around a bunch of charging equipment for that awesome One X with a 1800 non removable battery..

hmmm or maybe ill just get a iphone..yeahhhhh

      1.  my stock evo 4g has slightly less battery than that and i can get from 7 am till 8 pm on moderate usage (about 2 hours a video playback on the subway and periodically checking wordsmith).

The new processors tegra 3/s4 are supposed to improve battery life.  So hopefully it won’t be a huge concern although i do with they went  2100+ mah on the battery.

        1. I still have my EVO that I bought release day June 4 2010 and yeah if I used it ‘moderatly’ i could maybe get that long but 9 times out of 10 i had an extra charged battery in my back pocket just in case.

Its one thing to put a 1800 battery thats removable but non removable? thats just crazy!

      2. HTC is notorious for their bad battery life.

        Droid Razr Maxx 4 life!

        1. In 2 mo, Moto will release the Maxx 2 . . . 2 mo after that, it’ll be the Maxx 3.  Enjoy being screwed without lube

      1.  Which equates to 1280×720 on ICS due to the buttons at the bottom of the screen.

        1. exactly. no idea why so many people are liking his post.

  7. The context of the photo needs to be taken into account, as well. This definitely looks like a tester’s desk. See the tablet devices in front of the keyboard with the stickers? And all those mobile chargers plugged into the power strip aren’t for nothing.

  8. even a great cam can take bad pics.  User or settings error.

  9. Slow day?  We’re all excited to see the phone, but this post seems like a complete waste of everyone’s time.

    1. I completely agree, while the phone is highly anticipated who cares if this photo is from it or not? I’ve seen some very terrible photos taken with some great cameras. Anyone who hasn’t considered grabbing a tablet yet they take some pretty amazing pictures as well. Take a look at a few of  these reviews  if you are on the fence, they convinced me to get my Asus Transformer and it has all but replaced my phone, other than for taking calls of course.

    2. So nice to not have any iTards trolling around today.  It’s mandatory for them to stand in a line somewhere whenever a new Apple product comes out.

  10. Thats the Problem with Camera phones, shaky hands, where as on a digital camera the shake would be fixed or less noticeable.

  11. Who cares!!! Bring on quadcore !!!!!! 5.5 inches of screen!

  12. front facing camera anyone?

  13. Well for those talking about a non removable battery, that only goes for AT&T version. There has been ZERO confirmation of spec’s for a Sprint version so noone knows where the battery will be removeable or not.

    1. Sprint won’t get the S3; they spent all their money on the iPhone deal

      1. so should i switch carriers based on your “insider knowlege” i bet sprint does get this they do want the latest and greatest and they know that globally samsung is 2nd only to appl unfortunatley but theyve offered the 1st 2 galaxy s devices why stop now

  14. it might be taken with an SGS III otherwise why would the uploader have it removed from Picasa?

  15. It’s fake people stop believing in these idiots who think they have the SG III just wait for the real one like I’m waiting

  16. It, may not have a sd…ithink, that it wont.

  17. Probably fake it’s too easy to create fakes and some fan boys might get a hard one faking these things. Kinda sad but that’s how it is.
