About 10 days ago, Swype mentioned that they didn’t forget about Android 4.0 users and that an update to their beta would be coming to support users on that version of Android. Welp, the beta channel has finally been updated so those who can’t break from their finger dragging lifestyles can get back to typing the way that only they know how. Head here for details on how to get started. [Droid-Life]
finally!
yes indeed, was missing me some finger dragging goodness on my nexus…
same….had it on the fascinate and was really upset it wasn’t preinstalled on the nexus! working great now tho!
nothing comes pre-installed on the nexus….its a NEXUS (unless you roll with big red)
U definitely don’t want Swype pre-installed. I had a fascinate too and was always upset that you couldn’t have the latest beta version because the pre-installed version was the only “legal” one for that OS.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. SlideIT was killing me with its refusal to allow repeat caps.
BTW, I think the old version of Swype might have worked with ICS, but it didn’t support the Galaxy Nexus screen resolution (or that was the error message it kept showing).
I had picked up an apk a while ago that worked, but I am glad official support is finally here!
Time to test it on my sgn!
what was wrong with the previous version?
it works fine on my LG O2X with ICS(CM9, upgraded from CM7)
This was the last piece of the puzzle for my gnex. I’ve got swype along with nova launcher and the chrome browser.
Nice! Works great. I’ve really missed it. SlideIt filled in, but still missed Swype.
why is swype always in beta?
Love Swype… Amazing technology. But 3 things just annoy the hell out of me about it…
1 why is the space bar so damn tiny!?
2 why take up precious keyboard real estate with a ridiculous espanol/English button
3 why when typing, instead of Swyping, the button that is hit doesn’t pop up above to show what I hit..
While I typed that I hit the comma instead of space about 12 times BECAUSE of #1…
Swype and swiftkey need to combine
Try TouchPal Keyboard. Love it on my Nexus!
So glad to have it back, biggest thing I missed having since upgrading to a Galaxy Nexus. Swyping into the Chrome Omnibix feels great!
