Leaked Verizon MAP Shows Motorola DROID 4 Price Drop Before Its Release – BIONIC and RAZR Discounted Too

10

The Motorola Droid 4 has been sitting on Verizon’s backburner for weeks now, with no real release date in sight. So just when is Big Red planning on pulling out that ace from their sleeve? Well, according to the latest leaked MAP from Droid-Life, the Droid 4 could be released any day now with the date dancing around all of January. What’s more is the device could launch at a discounted $200 — $50 less than we saw it leaked for back in December. Of course, given the device has been pushed back almost a full month, this discount could also find itself being pushed back as well.

You’ll also notice a few more devices on the MAP getting their prices slashed. The Motorola Droid Bionic will drop to $150, while the Motorola Droid RAZR in both white and black will drop to $280 on contract.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. The $280 RAZRs must be the old stock that still has the memory card from when the device was $299, since the MAP also shows the $199 version in Purple/Black/White. However, who spends $280 for a regular RAZR when for $20 more you can get the MAXX which has twice the battery and the same memory? Essentially, Verizon is charging $80 for a 16GB micro SD…stay classy Big Red.

    1. Same way they charge an additional $100 for the difference between a 16, 32, and 64 GB *phone.
…at least with android you are able to buy the smaller memory version and double the SD card storage much more economically

      1. Well the way the trend is going, that might not be an option in the future.

  2. Was interested in one, but with the ‘special’ pricing, and not trusting companies, I’m betting a Droid 4 Maxx is coming out at the end of February  in BCN.

  3. it’s going to be a toss up for me when my t-mo accounts mature.

either a droid maxx or a cheapo phone and a xyboard.

  4. my bionic i bought friday is not working so well. Keeps dropping service. Does anyone else have this happen? I heard it was common , for example right now in my house i get 1 or 2 bars but at times will say 1x or please connect to network.

  5. Im guessing the reason for the DROID 4 price cut is because Moto and Verizon has something to surprise the consumers later in the year. It wont surprise me if they release a DROID 4 Maxx a month after the release of the DROID 4. With a bigger nonremovalable battery for the DROID 4 it gives Moto and Verizon a good reason to bump up the price to at least 299.00 on a 2 year contract. Moto is concentrating on battery issue here and it is listening to its consumers about that issue.

  6. Where’s the Galaxy Note/Journal on this list?????   AWWWWWWW…….

  7. Still waiting for the Galaxy Nexus drop.

  8. Good Motor. Keep reducing the prices of your phones with removable batteries!
