Lucasfilm is getting the promotional train rolling for the re-release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace in 3D with the release of Darth Maul Me for Android. As the name may or may not make clear, the app allows you to take a photo of yourself or a friend and use some simple onscreen controls to transform your face into that of the evil Sith lord Darth Maul.
The results, as you can see above, aren’t always the best. Especially if you have to take the image yourself. The app allows for the use of the front-facing camera, but at least on the Galaxy Nexus I used to capture the above image the photo was captured upside down. You can reorientate the photo in later steps, but it is time consuming. After snapping your photo you manipulate the image to make sure it lines up with the template provided and choose to either take on Darth Maul’s face, his tattoos, or his glaring evil eyes. A fun, free app but little more. Head over to the Android Market to get your Darth Maul on. Be sure to share your results with the rest of us.

Lol, the market ratings/comments are crushing this app
man, for Lucasfilm.LTD you’d assume they could get the FFC to work for this app.
So bad I wanted to share my picture, but both the download and Facebook share links failed.
So good I downloaded it twice.
Enough with this prequels crap. Make my head Han Solo.
WTF.. I donwloaded at work, when I started the app it plays the sound of the lightsabre powering up really loud. Even though I had the sound off on my phone. JFC. Needless to say everyone turned around to see what was going on.
LMAO! That sucks dude
