OnLive Viewer Comes to Google TV

4

Google has just announced that OnLive for Google TV is a reality, bringing you console-quality gaming without needing the hardware. Well, sort of. For now we’re only getting the OnLive Viewer application which allows you to watch others’ gameplay and check out stats and leaderboards.

They did say that gaming support would be on its way, though, so it’ll be great to see how that works out when it does eventually launch. You don’t have to pay anything to try it out, either. The first 30 minutes of any game are free so you can get a good feel for what it is, how it plays and how it looks before buying. We’ll be trying to get our paws on it here at CES so stay tuned! The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Very nice

  2. This really reminds me of the sega channel back in the day. Ha ha

  3. It’s been out for a few days. I just can’t wait for the player.

  4. Plays like crap on the Logitech Revue, not that I was expecting much. It’s blocky, choppy, stuttery, horizontal-torn video, and it’s not for lack of bandwidth (25Mbps) or my my TV (Samsung 40″ LCD @ 1080p). I’ll have to upgrade this $99 “POS” one of these days.

Still, my kid likes to watch people jump in/out of cars when spectating that Saints Row GTA ripoff game… :)
