Samsung Attain 4G Hands-on and Impressions [CES 2012]

3

We had a great opportunity to check out the Samsung Attain 4G here at CES, a new smartphone for MetroPCS with support for their 4G LTE network. The device, as expected, sits on the mid-range section of the spectrum though it’s a pretty solid device. It’s a 4 inch Super AMOLED device with a 1GHz single-core processor that runs Android 2.3 with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.

-The hardware itself was pretty solid and in line with what you’d expect from most Samsung devices. The plastic is a bit much but it looks good and is sleek and thin. There are hardware buttons for home, menu, back and search, something I think needs to come back to modern day devices.

The internals were enough to run Android + TouchWiz well enough but at the end of the day there is nothing here that we haven’t already seen. Metro has a few of their preinstalled applications but it’s not overdone like you might see on some other carriers’ devices. Take a look at our hands-on time with the device in the video above.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. It’s about time Metro POS gets a good phone now maybe they can build up their network and force Verizon to compete with pricing.

  2. I’m tired of paying $130 a month for a damned phone. This phone seems similar to my HTC Evo 4g which I’ve had a few years- and the exactly :$60 dollars a month: (including taxes and fees) for the monthly payment- makes me kind of excited…
Sprint isn’t really “unlimited” if you use alot of data you are throttled- and don’t believe for a second its only for “roaming”… I’ve personally experienced it. And I know people on Sprint who got a letter from them- and were subsequently terminated by Sprint for too much data usage (Sprints commercials are a bag of lies- data is so unlimited -if you use too much they kick you off!)…

$60 dollars a month period….. is this phone available at any metropcs or just the corporate stores?

  3. In my opinion, the LG Esteem 4G is a lot better for about 30 bucks more than the Attain 4G on MetroPCS.
